The Fulbright Core Scholar Program

The Fulbright Core Scholar Program grants are available to U.S. faculty and professionals to lecture and or conduct research at Icelandic universities for one semester. Icelandic university/college departments must request scholars approximately two years in advance of the grant period.

The grant period is a minimum of three months, for short courses, but most often Fulbright scholars stay for a full semester, i.e. approximately four months during the fall semester or five months during the spring semester.

Grant benefits include a travel stipend, a stipend that covers living costs in Iceland, supplemental accident and sickness coverage for the grantee and a baggage allowance.

American scholars apply to CIES, the Council for International Exchange of Scholars, 12 - 18 months before the grant period.

All further information is available on the CIES website.
