Doubt By Two Revier and Tubergen present work in sculpture, drawing, and photography in relation to their time spent living in Iceland (2009-2010). The works operate as a pause and a noting of their experiences through foreign landscape - exploring notions of isolation, memory, catastrophe, and dislocation.
Amy Revier is an artist living and working in London. Her sculptures, woven drawings, and collages often involve an apparatus or object for transport. Revier’s work references the body, ceremony, ritual, psychological states, and memory. She recently expanded her woven drawings into a collaborative project with New York-based artist Natalie Northrup. Together they founded Northrup Revier, a collection of handwoven and handmade garments. She was a Fulbright Fellow in Iceland from 2009-2010 and a Hunt Scholar from 2005-2009, where she received a BFA from Southern Methodist University. Revier recently had solo exhibition at The Reading Room, Dallas; group shows at Fort Worth Contemporary Arts; Champion Contemporary, Austin; And/Or Gallery, Dallas; and The McKinney Avenue Contemporary, Dallas.
Elizabeth Tubergen is a project-based artist living and working in Queens, New York. Her work takes the form of sculptures, videos and photographs, and centers around themes of memory, habit, paradox, dislocation, and identity. Her work has been shown at various international locations including John Hansard Gallery in Southampton and Monster Truck Gallery in Dublin. Tubergen’s recent solo shows in the U.S. include Threshold at Illuminated Metropolis Gallery in New York City, Supermoon at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, and Sister City at AVA in Chattanooga, TN. Tubergen is the recipient of a Jacob K. Javits Fellowship, as well as fellowships from the Mustard Seed Foundation, the J. William Fulbright Foundation, the American-Scandinavian Foundation, the MacDowell Colony, and Ox-bow school of art. She is presently completing her MFA at Hunter College in New York City.
